BACS
The BACS Workshop, active between 1912 and 1914, embodies a flourishing era of ceramic art in France. Founded by Jean Barol (1873-1966) after his departure from the prestigious Clément Massier Manufacture, this workshop stood out for its unique location: the Eden Roc Manor in Golfe-Juan, graciously provided by a visionary philanthropist.
The acronym BACS reflects the union of exceptional talents: Jean Barol, Marius Alexandre (1880-1959), a former decorator for Jérôme Massier, Jean Carle, and François Sicard (1850-1942). Together, they crafted innovative ceramic pieces, blending traditional craftsmanship with artistic boldness, leaving a lasting mark on the history of decorative arts.
Today, the creations of the BACS Workshop are highly sought after by collectors and art enthusiasts, bearing witness to the legacy of an iconic workshop from the early 20th century.
