Bronze with nuanced green patina, made using the lost-wax technique, marked "Susse Frères Edt Paris" in relief, engraved with "cire perdue" (lost wax) and signed "Raoul Larche".
Â
"The Song of the Sirens" or "The Sirens" depict three sirens rescuing a sailor from the raging waves by placing him on a rock, or perhaps, on the contrary, attempting to drag him into the depths of the sea...
Â
This is undoubtedly a rare edition produced by Susse Frères Paris, whereas Raoul Larche primarily worked with the foundry Siot-Decauville.
Â
Naturally, one cannot help but think of his famous centerpiece from around 1894: "The Sea," of which a version is preserved at the Musée d'Orsay.
