(1855-1915)

Georges Hoentschel (1855 - 1915) was the son of Charles Hoentschel and Catherine Emilie Leys.

He was a great friend of Jean Carriès who helped him learn to make ceramics in the "Carriès School".

A ceramist himself, he also collected ceramics, some of which he exhibited at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. He left an important bequest of ceramics to the Petit Palais in Paris, from the Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye workshop of his great friend Jean Carriès, which he bought shortly before the latter's death. Hoentschel subsequently donated to the city of Paris the almost complete collection of the artist's work held in the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris.
