GUIMARD Hector
GUIMARD Hector
French
1867/1942
In the international artistic movement of his time, Guimard was an isolated maverick: he left no disciple behind, nor any school, and this is why he was long considered a secondary player in this movement. This lack of posterity contrasts with the extraordinary formal inventiveness and typological profusion of his architectural and decorative work, in which the architect gave the best of himself in some fifteen years of intense creative activity.
